Oil goes up, oil goes down, the sun just keeps on shining!
Showing people in Idaho how solar hot water and our other whole home solar solutions can save them money on their monthly energy costs is great, but one thing that many forget – and we love to talk about as well – is the fact that solar = sustainable.
At a time when oil prices have been fluctuating wildly, heavily impacting the energy markets worldwide, costs for solar and it’s efficiency has only continued to rise. It’s even getting harder for green energy nay-sayers to find something to complain about!
Solar saves dollars and makes sense, it’s growing in affordability and is a great way to increase the sustainability of your home or business. We invite you to give us a call if you have questions about our solar HVAC services – we’d love the chance to tell you more! Call us for a free solar site visit 208-577-6537 !

Curing the High Energy Cost Blues!
Solar Quiz Time!
On our Facebook Page we asked: How much hot water do hospitals use?
With many hospitals across the country at an average of a +60% occupancy rate the number of people calling a hospital home, at least for a short period, can be a staggering number. Figure in all of the hot water used by those individuals as well as the volume of water for cleaning and laundry purposes and it’s not hard to see that hot water figures in as a large cost of a hospitals overhead.
The average cost per inpatient day is $2,025 for nonprofit hospitals and $1,629 for for-profit hospitals.
With hospitals using an average of 35 gallons per day per patient and considering that solar hot water can provide as much as 50% savings on energy costs, the benefits to these institutions to make the switch to a sustainable solution could be immense!
We’ve worked with a variety of residential installs, as well as large commercial projects for car washes, universities and dairies throughout Idaho; we would love the opportunity to discuss how our solar HVAC solutions could be used in the health care industry as well.
No matter what size project you have in mind – from a tiny house up in the foot hills, or a huge agricultural operation we have the experience and skills to help you save starting from day one! Call us at 208-577-6537 today to get a FREE estimate of your solar needs!
Largest Solar Thermal install in Northwest – Water Heating for Dairy Calf Farm
Three Rivers Calf Farm in Parma, ID raises 10,000 heifer calves for the dairy industry. The calves start out being bottle fed with pasteurized hospital milk from dairies and topped off with dry milk mixed with hot water. The calves are fed twice daily with each calf consuming 2 gallons of 100 degree milk each day. The operations center is also heated with radiant floor heating. The calf farm maintains the cleanliness of the operations by washing equipment with 170 degree water.
The solar thermal farm consists of 80 – 30 tube panels generating 4,000 gallons of 170 degree water each day. This equates to 4 million BTU’s of energy created from the suns radiation.
This project was fortunate to receive a USDA REAP grant for 25% of the cost of the project. The project included 2- 1500 gallon insulated tanks for hot water storage, 2 1.5 million BTU/hr boilers, radiant floor heating and the solar thermal farm.
The project is operating as designed and the farm has seen significant reduction in the consumption of propane.

Sunshine at The Idaho State Fair!
It was really great to see so many faces new and old at the West Idaho State Fair recently!
The weather was great and brought in lots of sunshine for all of our visitors – giving us a perfect chance to show off our solar hot water solutions! Truth is though, I don’t mind overcast or even slightly cloudy days when I’m out doing trade shows because it gives me a chance to demonstrate the fact that our solar technology works great – even in the shade!
The look on people’s face is great when I take one of our tubes that has been under the shade and ask them to put their finger inside just to test it; they look surprised every time that in fact it’s heating!
The other big surprise of course is the fact of the big savings on energy costs they can expect when switching to solar hvac!
Many people don’t know that Idaho offers low interest loans for families and business to install renewable energy – $15k individual and $100k for businesses.
