Summer Time and the Saving is easy – with solar!

Things haven’t slowed down any with the long hot days of Summer blazing along! The Renewable Energy NW team has been hard at work installing solar hot water systems and radiant solar flooring lately – big projects and small on each account.

We were fortunate enough recently to work with Adam Roe Painting, Inc. and highly recommend them to take care of your painting needs. The RENW team just started a new solar thermal radiant floor for Adam and his team and already appreciate their dedication to quality painting and operating a sustainable environmentally sound business.

On the residential side of things the RENW team completed another Solar HVAC install for a happy customer. Their new 4 panel system will heat the water 365 and assist the water source heat pump in heating the home in the winter. The homeowner was able to turn off both electric water heaters at the pane and had enough hot water to fill up a 60 gallon Jacuzzi tub as well as enough hot water for 2 long steamy showers in the morning.

The Future of Solar is Bright in Idaho

Solar Still Growing In Idaho!

We’ve had our first cold snap and the official season of pumpkin spice everything has begun! But one thing that hasn’t cooled off is solar in Idaho – WOW!

The RENW team completed another item on the renewable energy bucket list!
This installation was on our first off grid home and uses 4.8 kWts of Photo Voltaic solar feeding into a lithium battery set up. The energy is then converted into AC power to run a typical panel box.

Previously the home had an electric water heater which can consume at least 4,500 watts of power until the water is hot – not very efficient!

The solar hot water system we installed consumes just 60 watts! 4,500 > 60 Any questions?

Solar thermal isn’t just for the home! We had the chance to revisit a past client who owns a commercial car wash where we completed a install 4 years ago. We updated the supply and return lines with our latest more durable product; also added controls to monitor the heat out of each of the solar thermal panel sections.

Just as an update on their conversion to solar: They still haven’t turned on the natural gas to assist heating the water since the install! All the car washes from March until the end of October were washed with the power of the sun!

Now, we can’t prove it…but we’ve heard that cars washed with solar hot water get better gas mileage.
