Solar HVAC Solution in New Plymouth ID

Renewable Energy NW, LLC completed another “affordable solar solution” for a great family in New Plymouth ID.  The project included an energy efficient American Standard air to air heat pump, a variable speed blower, an efficient media air filter system, a humidifier, an on-demand electric hot water heater and a two panel solar thermal system for heating the hot water and assisting on comfort heating.

The complete system is saving the customers more than 50% on their utility costs for their home.  The air quality is significantly better with a consistent humidity and clean filtered air.

This install is a great example of a holistic renewable energy solution that will provide affordable, efficient and clean comfort for you home for years and years.

Solar Water Heating, Comfort Heating and Hot Tub Heating

RENW just finished a great install in Ada County Idaho.  We installed 2 – 20 tube solar panel systems.  One panel is designed to provide enough hot water for a family of 4.  We focus on “Affordable Solar Solutions” delivering high quality installs for affordable prices.  This install we use the extra energy from the 2nd panel to assist in comfort heating the home.  When heat is not required in the home the home owner can switch with two ball valves over to heating the hot tub.  This solution allows both panels of renewable energy to be used year round.   We have a great roof mount system that is secure and water tight.   If you are considering reducing your utility costs please give us a call for a free solar site visit.

1898 Built House with Solar Thermal Energy in Idaho

We just finished a great project on a GREAT classic historical registered house.  We installed 2 panels on the 45 degree roof.    That roof mount wast some careful work.  The water lines to the basement were already installed by the home owner.

The home owner had also installed ~3,000 feet of 1/2″ Pex-Al-Pex tubing under the floors.  A radiant barrier was also installed to drive the heat upward for the intended use.   The insulation bats were then installed behind the radiant barrier.

We installed a 75 gallon natural gas combi-water heater with a coil in the tank.  The radiant floor system is hooked in through the heat exchange loop.  The radiant floor tubing is hooked in to a 8 valve manifold that is connected to a controller and thermostats into 3 separate heating zones.

When the thermostat calls for heat it starts the radiant circulation pump and opens the valves for that zone.  The system runs until the heat load is satisfied.

The solar loop is tied into the combi tank and provides all the energy the sun has to offer for that day.

We also installed a “Clear Wave” salt-less water conditioning system to keep the system in top shape with no hard water build up.

Solar Water Heating for Dairy in Ada County ID

We just completed a great install at our first solar thermal dairy in Ada County – Idaho.  The installation went great and was accomplished in 4 days construction time.  The 18 solar panels are mounted on the roof of the milk barn.

When we were doing our performance testing we were able to heat the solar water up to 195 degrees both days of our performance testing.   We also improved the efficiency of the free heater and the milk chilling operation was reduced be 2 hours per day of chilling time.

The dairy is pleased with the performance of the system.  We look forward to installing more of these commercial installs helping Idaho business and employing Idaho folks with living wage jobs that create long term business success.

Solar Water Heating at Dairy in Burley ID

We just finished a great install in Burley, ID at a large modern dairy farm.  The install consisted of a 30 panel solar thermal system.  The system has 1500 gallons of solar thermal storage capacity.  The system is designed to provide 1000 gallons of water a day at 165 degree temperature.

Each one of the solar panels offsets 1 ton of carbon emissions per year or 30 tons in total each year and 600 tons over the life of the project.  The economics of the system estimate that the net payback should be accomplished in less than 1 year.  The project was  assisted int he installation with grants from the USDA REAP program and from the US Treasury 1603 Grant.

The project is up and running as designed.
